Introduction to Graphics in Stratum 2000
Conception
The Stratum graphics subsystem is based on the XD Graphics technology. This technology,
in its turn, is based on the usage of graphics spaces. The graphics space is some area
which has a coordinate system and a set of graphics objects, arranged in it.
The graphics space is displayed in the usual window and can be sent on printing. As a
rule, there are some graphics spaces in a subsystem In some graphics spaces the process
of editing is carried out, in the other the simulation process is displayed.
There is a set of standard two-dimensional graphics objects:
- Polylines, polygons
- Bitmap pictures and pictures with transparency
- Texts
- Groups
- Windows controls items
- Three dimensional space projections
- Videoframes.
It is possible to realize the following operations with all graphics objects:
- move, rotate, scale
- copy and duplicate
- change other parameters
The Graphics Editor
The editor has a standard set of functions for editing graphics objects.
The graphics editor is combined with the models editor and permits to edit the models
structure, to place and to move informational objects and to connect them with links on
one page. And thus it allows to edit:
- separate graphics files in the own file format - VDR
- models schemes
- classes images
Editor features
- Clipboard support (copy/cut/paste/special paste). Bitmaps, Text, Wmf, Rtf and own
formats are supported
- Drag & drop. It is very simple. You can drag the necessary file (or even group of
files) on the editor window directly from Windows Explorer. The new graphics object itself
will appear in the necessary place
- Print of the editor content, with custom-designed scale and paginating
- Zoom In, Zoom Out. From 1% to 1600%
- Editor grid
- Many drawing tools
- Export to wmf.
- Search of objects and classes arranged on page
- Automatic switching to the three-dimensional editor when choosing three-dimensional
objects
- There is a possibility to connect objects by information links automatically. The
linking is done when moving one object to other
- There is a built-in editor of bitmaps for editing the raster images
- Selecting of model part and generating the separate class according to it
- There is a possibility to play videofiles and Video Capturedirect on page surface
Samples

2D Graphics summary
- A great number of windows available
- Virtual screen surface
- A great number of objects, up to 30000 objects in one picture.
- Hierarchical groups. Association of objects in groups
- Controllability. You can change any parameters of two-dimensional objects during the
simulation process.
- A wide set of built-in functions for objects manipulation
- Raster and Vector images import: wmf, ico, bmp, rle, jpg, gif, png, tga, tif, pcx, 3ds,
rtf, avi..
- Combination with a three-dimensional graphics. Any two-dimensional objects can be
displayed in one window with three-dimensional graphics.
